About Mohammad Abdus Salam FCA
Mohammad Abdus Salam is a seasoned Chartered Accountant with a longstanding history of professional dedication and public service. Mr. Salam completed his Matriculation in 1960 under the Dhaka Board, later graduating with an M.Com in 1966 from Dhaka University and obtaining an LL.B (preliminary) certificate from Chattogram University in 1979. After his M.Com, he joined Rahman Macomb Huq & Co., a reputed Chartered Accountants firm, as an articled student in December 1968 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1979, achieving FCA status in 1986. Over the years, he held key roles in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), serving as the Honorary Secretary of the Chattogram Region and later as Chairman in 2001. His commitment to professional growth also extended to lecturing at ICAB's Chattogram Centre for many years. Mr. Salam’s career in finance and corporate governance spans several prominent organizations, including the Bangladesh Textile Mills Corporation, Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation, and Meghna Petroleum Ltd., where he served in senior roles. Post-retirement, he embarked on a public accounting practice, joining Rahman Mostafa Alam & Co. in 2001 and eventually establishing his firm, M.A. Salam & Co., in 2019. In October 2024, he joined Ahmed Masum & Co., Chartered Accountants, as a Senior Partner and Branch-in-Charge of the Chattogram Branch Office. Mr. Salam actively contributed to the Liberation War of 1971 as an Associate Freedom Fighter under Sector No. 1. He is a life member of Chattogram Samity, Dhaka, and performed Hajj in 2003. His expertise spans financial management, internal control systems, and MIS, bolstered by international training, including courses organized by British Petroleum in Dubai and the Management Development Centre under the Government of Bangladesh. Md. Salam is the Senior Partner of Ahmed Masum & Co., Chartered Accountants and Branch-in-Charge of its Chattogram Branch.
